French Language Services Policy

French Language Active Offer Requirements

The FST is committed to ensuring that our French language services are clearly visible, easily accessible, publicized and of equivalent quality to services we offer in English. Phone and email services are available in French as are all hard copy and electronic documents, communications and publications. A bilingual (French-English speaking) FST Member or a French-English third-party interpreter will be assigned to proceedings where an application or appeal is submitted in French, a response is filed in French, a party requests that the proceeding be conducted wholly or partly in French, or a party requests to communicate in French at any time in the process. Once French service is initiated, service in French will continue at every step in a proceeding without the need for any additional requests.

French language services are provided in addition to the translation services for other languages we provide on request, in connection with a proceeding.
